Small Groups

Frequently Asked Questions

What are small groups?

Small groups are a strategic part of life at Cypress. This is where (and how) we obey the centerpiece phrase of our purpose statement – LOVE ONE ANOTHER. The Sunday service, where we practice worshiping Jesus together, is really just the first half of a whole experience that is completed in a small group environment in someone’s home. Sermons impress, but small groups help us to process the teaching we have heard so that it can transform us.

Who are small groups for?

Small Groups are for people who have made Cypress their home church. Groups meet weekly or bi-monthly over the course of a 7 week period. Small Group Members are encouraged to process through the questions before each meeting to be prepared for discussion centered on Jesus! Groups are hosted and facilitated by trusted members of our church body.

When are small groups?

Groups meet at various times, on different days, and locations throughout the week/month. This is to be accommodating to the schedules of members in the group. Some groups meet at Cypress, some on Zoom, and others meet in homes on the Monterey Peninsula.

New Facilitators & Hosts Needed!

As Small Groups restart on August 6th (see schedule below), we want to create new groups for families, young marrieds, seniors, and singles! Hosts open their home up to the group and Facilitators guide the discussion using our provided Small Group Questions each week. This would only be a 7 week commitment from August 6th - September 24th. Try it out!
